Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

| Return|

Kilimanjaro Safaris at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom park is always priority attraction for my family.  During our last visit we decided to surprise the girls with the 3 hour privately guided Wild Africa Trek and we were thrilled we did!

We checked in by the main entrance of the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride where we met our guides, Paolo and Karen and the three families who would be joining us on the trek (there were 10 of us in total).  The first priority was safety and we were given vests and clip on water bottles and harnesses.  Loose items and backpacks were stored in lockers and sunglasses were given safety straps.

IMG_9322We started with a light hike to various lookout points.  There were lots of stops along the way as the guides offered insight about the animals and some plants. The hike took us to a rope bridge, which we all crossed individually so we could see the hippos and crocodiles up close.

TWild Africa Trek 007he next part of the tour had us boarding a jeep and where we toured the safari.  This jeep was very personalized and we spent a lot of time looking at the animals in much closer proximity than on the usual Kilimanjaro Safaris ride.

Just as we were getting hungry, we were taken to a look out station with tables, washrooms and a lovely view of the savannah. each of us was presented with a delicious snack filled with interesting items like a fig cake, prosciutto ham and fresh fruit salad.

This is the last stop in the tour and from here you are taken back to the starting point with the jeep.

Throughout the entire 3 hour trek, the guides provided information and answered questions, giving insight on the personalities and habits of the different animal species.  Our guides were fantastic with the kids and did a great job of keeping them interested and engaged.  The guides also took pictures, lots of pictures which are included in the price of the tour and can be downloaded when you get home. As the family photographer, I was happy that I was in the pictures for a change! What we really loved about this trek was the behind the scenes access to the safari and having a family safari adventure.  It was a lot of fun.

If you have some animal lovers in your family, the Wild Africa Trek is definitely a tour you will want to experience!  It’s a VIP experience that will create a lot of happy family memories.IMG_9327
