Walt Disney World Summer 2026: New Family Experiences

Families planning a Walt Disney World summer 2026 vacation have more to look forward to than pool time, fireworks and favourite attractions. This summer, Walt Disney World Resort is offering Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, a seasonal celebration with new family experiences, refreshed attractions, entertainment and extra fun across the parks and resorts.

Recently, several Pure Magic Vacations agents were invited by Disney for a first-hand preview of these summer offerings. After the event, they shared their observations with the Pure Magic Vacations team, helping everyone better understand how these updates might impact summer vacation planning for families. As a Platinum EarMarked by Disney Authorized Travel Agency, Pure Magic Vacations is proud to stay current with the latest updates at Walt Disney World Resort.

There are big changes coming to Walt Disney World over the next few years. However, that doesn’t mean families should wait to visit. Kids are only this age once, and summer 2026 brings plenty of reasons to enjoy Walt Disney World right now.

What is Cool KIDS’ SUMMER at Walt Disney World?

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER runs from May 26 to September 8, 2026, with family-friendly experiences throughout Walt Disney World Resort. Some of the highlights include new shows, updated attractions, character experiences, resort activities and water park fun. For many families, this adds a fresh layer to a Walt Disney World vacation.

Christl Fourie, one of the Pure Magic Vacations agents who attended the event, noticed how much is new for summer visitors.

“There are just so many new offerings for summer visitors this year,” she shared. “From exciting new attractions to fresh entertainment and shows, there’s an incredible amount to experience.”

She also noted that a family could visit in winter, return again in summer and have a very different vacation experience.

Why This Summer Feels Different for Families

Summer at Walt Disney World often makes families think about heat, crowds and school vacation schedules. Those are real planning factors, but they aren’t the whole story. For 2026, Disney is giving families more reasons to look at summer with fresh eyes.

Liv Gallie, another Pure Magic Vacations agent who attended the preview, shared that every park had something updated since her last visit.

“As someone who visits the parks frequently, I was blown away by how much felt new and different at Walt Disney World,” she said.

That first-hand perspective is helpful. It shows that this isn’t just about one new attraction or seasonal activity. Instead, families can find new experiences across different parks, age groups and vacation styles.

New Experiences for Younger Kids

For families with younger children, Bluey is likely to be a major highlight.

Bluey’s Wild World at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park gives families another reason to visit Conservation Station. Liv noted that this experience is currently offered by Virtual Queue, which is something families should understand before arriving.

That is where planning support can help. Virtual Queues can be confusing if you’ve never used one before. Knowing when and how to access them can make a big difference in your park day.

Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! is another strong addition for families with little ones. Liv described it as a fun way to beat the heat while giving younger children a chance to move, sing and enjoy familiar characters indoors. For parents, this kind of experience can be really helpful during a summer park day. It gives kids a break from the sun and heat without fully leaving the fun behind.

Fun for Older Kids, Teens and Kids at Heart

Cool KIDS’ SUMMER isn’t just for preschool families. Older kids, teens and adults who grew up loving Disney characters will also find new things to enjoy.

One of the most talked-about updates is Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Christl described it as a strong balance of beloved characters, immersive storytelling and thrill-ride fun.

Liv also shared a helpful rider tip. She found the front row especially intense, while the middle felt a little less thrilling. Details like this can help families with mixed comfort levels decide how to best enjoy the attraction.

Star Wars fans also have something new to explore. The updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run mission now features The Mandalorian and Grogu. Liv noticed that the engineer role is now more engaging than it once was. Most guests tend to want the pilot role, but Liv pointed out that engineers now have more influence over the destination, making that role more fun than some guests might assume.

Why Staying Onsite May Be Even More Helpful

For many families, choosing where to stay is one of the biggest Walt Disney World planning decisions. During summer 2026, staying at a Disney Resort hotel may add even more to the vacation experience. Disney has also highlighted extra summer experiences at select Disney Resort hotels, including Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.

Christl felt this was one of the most important takeaways for families.

“I’ve always encouraged my travellers to consider onsite resorts because of the value and convenience they offer,” she shared. “But this accommodation choice feels more worthwhile than ever during the summer season.”

Guests of Disney’s Pop Century Resort will enjoy additional experiences during Cool KIDS’ SUMMER.

This is especially true when planning around Florida heat. Resort pools, afternoon breaks and easier transportation can all help the vacation feel more comfortable. A summer Walt Disney World trip doesn’t need to be a rope-drop-to-fireworks marathon every day. In fact, many families will enjoy the trip more with a different strategy.

Take advantage of complimentary water park admission on your check-in day at Walt Disney World Resort this summer.

Families can also build in time at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park or Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park, both of which are part of the summer fun. For guests of a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, admission to one of the water parks is complimentary on arrival day.

How to Plan a Summer Walt Disney World Vacation

The key to a successful summer trip is planning with the season in mind. This could mean starting early in the parks, returning to the resort for a swim or rest, then heading back out later in the day. It may also mean choosing more indoor shows, planning a water park day or staying a little longer so the trip doesn’t feel rushed.

Christl explained it well.

“When you plan for the heat instead of fighting against it, a summer Walt Disney World vacation can be incredibly enjoyable.”

Liv also noted that summer can be a good time for families to extend their stay, especially when kids are already out of school. Extra time can make it easier to enjoy the parks, resorts and special summer experiences without trying to do everything at once.

Why Visit Walt Disney World Now?

There’s always something new on the horizon at Walt Disney World Resort. This is part of what makes it such an exciting destination to revisit. However, waiting for “everything” to be finished can mean missing a wonderful season in your child’s life.

A preschooler excited to see Bluey today won't be at that same age forever. A tween who is ready for bigger thrills might be at the perfect stage for attractions like Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. A family that needs time together now might not want to postpone those memories for another year or two.

Walt Disney World will continue to grow and change. But summer 2026 already has many new experiences for families to enjoy.
